Congressman Scuffles with Student

Videos posted to YouTube show Rep. Bob Etheridge, D-NC, tussling with two men who approached him on a sidewalk asking about his support for the Obama administration.

One of the men, who identifies himself as a student, asks, "Do you fully support the Obama agenda?" Etheridge responds by asking three times, "Who are you?"
The man says, "I'm here for a project, sir." The congressman swats at the camera and grabs the man's wrist at 0:08, refusing to let go. When the student declines to say which university he is affiliated with, the congressman grabs the man by his neck at 0:30 before finally letting go.

how is it is right to know who someone is?

This "leader of the community" should have been arrested for assault. The student just asked a question and no one has a right to put their hands on you for asking a question. It appears that this congressman has issues with violence. If that were anyone else he would have been arrested. These are the people we have running our government! Scary.

Bob would've recieved my fist in his eye socket if that kid were me. Once your grab someone and don't release, it's fight on.

This is Outrageous! This is a Congressman and like his fellow Dems who swore to uphold the Constitution, believes he is above the Law and can do to whomever anything he wants, without recourse. Throw his worthless ass in jail for a wake up call about the laws that the Citizens of America support. He should have never even touched this boy! Prosecute him for assualt!

There should be some FIR and legal action against him.

i'm very suspicious that these two refused to tell Rep. Etheridge who they were and then used such strong language as "attacked a student". smells of an agenda.

Arrogance! He seems to have forgotten that he is a Public Servant. Fire him. Arrest him.

Raving like a mad man. On drugs or drunk, you think?

Looks like he is sleep deprived too!

I feel the two who were asking questions, should have identified themselves, however his actions were just as wrong. If he had answered yes to their questions,I would have been suprised.
As someone else pointed out, charges should have been pressed against him for assault.

if some person grabs me, i don't feel inclined to tell them who i am. also, what kind of congressman thinks they have a right to know who people are? he's not under arrest... yet. has he made any public statements about this? if the students set that up, then he can defend himself pretty easily. otherwise, he needs to GTFO. Although, considering how viral that video went, maybe the humiliation will be enough to teach him a lesson. hopefully.

I'm sorry but, ATTACK and ASSAULT are pretty strong words to use. Honestly, i find the use of those words in this situation completely inappropriate. I really don't get what was with the students. Yes, It was rude of him to grab the kid by the arm for 20 seconds, but why didn't the kid just identify himself? I mean, he kinda had a right to know who was taking pictures of him

@naz,
ATTACK AND ASSUALT pretty strong... Are you kidding me... He not only touched him he grabbed and held him not once but twice and the second time around the neck. If you think those words are to strong try going out and doing that to someone on the street and see how fast your locked up. Besides that a finger touch to someones chest is assault. That incumbent jerk is a public servant and is not above the law.
He should resign or be removed immediately pending prosecution for Assault.
Really right to know who is taking pics of him lmao your a fool a true fool. The govt is taking your pic everyday all day at most street corners and D.C is riddled with cams.
