Three Corpse Flowers to Bloom This Weekend

Three Amorphophallus titanum plants, better known as "corpse flowers," are set to bloom this weekend: one at a Houston museum, and two others in Minnesota. "Lois," at the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences, could disrupt a wedding taking place in a butterfly room next door on Saturday. (The plant's common name describes the putrid odor given off by its flower, one of the world's largest.) The specimen at Gustavus Adolphus College, "Perry," is expected to blossom this weekend, while "Bob," a plant at Orchids Unlimited in Plymouth, Minnesota, opened yesterday.

Crowds gather to see Lois, which was starting to smelly like "dirty socks," according to springrealty.
