Al Franken - comedian, politician, artist, cartographer?

If there was any question that Senator Al Franken is a man of many talents, watch this video of him at the Minnesota State Fair, drawing an amazingly accurate map of the 50 states from memory.

OMG! Genius

It's not that hard if you know the politico-geographic nature of the individual states.

Doesn't he have something better to do? Like deliver on his party's promises to reform healthcare? What happened to having it done before the August recess?

xD Don't senators have anything better to do?

amazing. i could never do that ever

most politicians can't name the 50 states...

Man... obviously he had it drawn in a page beneath the one he was drawing on... how can americans believe that and say GENIOUS!!.... GOD!! There goes THE america

i agree, most politicians cant name all 50 states to save their lives. R.I.P Ted Kennedy, he was the only one who made such a big difference.

I bet he had a picture behind it ^^

Whoever wrote that it was "amazingly accurate" needs to look at an actual map of the fifty states... Sure, he got the general placement right, and he got Minnesota right, and the square states look okay. But come on. What about West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Maine, Kentucky, Ohio, Washington, Alaska? Or Michigan's UP? Or for that matter, Lake Ontario, which is at right angles to where it should be? And he thinks San Francisco is really that big? I mean, seriously... it's neat that he can do this, but it's only "amazingly accurate" in comparison to Miss South Carolina's stance on maps for U.S. Americans.

He's not good enough, not smart enough and doggone it.... people don't like him.

He'll always be Stuart Smalley.

Wish we could hear what he was saying!

:31 he have a mark on his cheek!

he traced it through the back

In the closeups you can see he is tracing an image behind the paper he's drawing on... and he's also wearing an "I hate America" tshirt underneath his shirt and you can clearly see his joseph stalin tattoo under his sleeve and he's just come from a secret death panel meeting where he practised on live 90 year old's by pulling the plugs to their respirators... old republicans, polluting every commenting space on the internet they can find.

The Republican map of the USA would consist of all Southern states.

Well aren't we all cynical? Stop critisizing how inacurrate the map is, I challenge anyone who commented here to draw a map of the US better than he just did. Republicans are still whining about how they chose a mentally challenged ape as the 43rd President and paid the price for it.

I saw him do this on SNL about 25 or so years ago.
