Live Tonight on YouTube: The State of the Union

[Cross-posted to the YouTube Blog]

Tonight at 9 p.m. ET we'll be livestreaming the President's State of the Union address onYouTube. As we announced yesterday, not only will you have the opportunity to watch the speech live online, you'll also be able to submit your questions for the President during and after the speech, and the President himself will respond to a collection of your top-voted questions in a live interview at the White House next week.

When the State of the Union address begins at 9 p.m. ET, we'll open a Google Moderator series on CitizenTube (youtube.com/citizentube) that will allow you to submit and vote on questions (in text or on video) for the President. Be ready to submit your questions right after the speech as we'll only keep the platform open for a few days.

How will we know which questions to bring to the President in the interview? You'll tell us by how you voted. After the votes have been cast, we'll assemble a shortlist of the top questions, ensuring that we cover a range of issues, minimize duplicate questions, and include a mix of both video and text submissions. This is your opportunity for an exclusive interview with the President, so be sure to submit great questions and vote for the ones you think should be asked.

If you're submitting your question on video (which we prefer), please be sure to keep it short (20 seconds or less) and use the highest video and audio quality possible so that we can hear you loud and clear.

After the speech, we'll highlight the video of the entire State of the Union address, so those of you who aren't able to see it live can still watch and participate afterwards. We'll also feature Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's official GOP response to the President's State of the Union, in what promises to be a lively and important discussion of our nation's future in 2010.

See you tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CitizenTube.

I am frustrated with vague immigration details! What of undocumented citizens who have lived in this country all but a few months or years of their lives? What of those who have made this country their homes; they have paid taxes and earned undergraduate and master's degrees! Don't these young men and women deserve a swift and efficient citizenship process? Aren't these men and women the very People who will help pull this nation out of this economic crisis?

Tired of the rhetoric without any action and a president in denial. What don't you understand, Mr. President? WE DON'T WANT GOVERNMENT RUN BANKS, MANUFACTURING AND ESPECIALLY HEALTHCARE! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Can you hear me now? Buehler? Buehler? Buehler?

the speech was worthless. I don't belive a thing that comes from that man's mouth. He is winging it at best but "desperate Americans" buy it because they know nothing else. Truly a sad time in our history. He may speak well but ultimately, hype means nothing.

I, as a concerned citizen of America would like to ask about a rather sensitive topic concerning Congress. If you, as a president, and leader, are trying so much to revamp the economy, then why don't you start at the top- the government itself. I, as well as millions of other concerned citizens, know that Congress is allowed to choose their own salary and is permitted to raise it once every fiscal year. Therefore, it is ok to assume that a congressional member must make well over 250,000 dollars a year. I think that you should set a bar, if you will, that Congress can not make over 250,000 a year. It will relieve a lot of stress on the economy.

I also have another topic. I was recently looking over the tax tables for the fiscal year of 2010 and realized that if one makes over a certain amount of money, they no longer have to pay taxes. That is extremely ludacris and should be revised. If the wealthy were taxed, then the economy wouldn't suffer as much either. Even if they were only taxed at 35-45%, at LEAST for several years. I think, as a LEADER, you should abolish the phrase, "The Rich get richer, and the Poor get poorer. Good Luck, Sir.

Why did you guys censor all the Marijuana questions?

The most upvoted question, and the largest number of questions submitted under a single topic was that of reforming marijuana prohibition law.

Why was this topic censored from the questions list?

Yellow journalism from Google? "Don't Be Evil" loses more credibility every day.
