Volunteers Tend to Whale Stranded in Shallow Washington Waters
Volunteers came to the aid of a large gray whale stranded in the shallow waters off the coast of Everett, Washington, today. A National Marine Fisheries Service spokesman said the animal is still alive, but that the outlook wasn't good, according to the Associated Press.

Rescuers Lose Hope for Stranded Whale
Marine experts say there is little chance a fin whale trapped in a shallow fjord in Denmark will survive. The 30-ton animal became stranded yesterday, and a biologist tells the AP it is probably in a state of shock and "it would be best" if it dies soon.
