Shark Sighting Closes New Jersey Beach

New Jersey's Seaside Park beach was briefly closed on Sunday when a 5-foot blue shark swam onto the shore. WNBC-TV reports lifeguards have closed the beach three times this summer because of shark sightings. Jennifer Abbondanza uploaded this footage of the shark to YouTube.

Thats not a sandshark, thats a blue shark, and who know what its doing in the surf like that. Who ever had the fishing pole should have hooked a piece of bunker on there to catch it

Looks to me like he reeled it in. Look at how it appears the line was cut and then the shark swam back out.

"Sand shark" is just a catch-all term for any shark that is found close to shore - but that was certainly a very dangerous blue shark that isn't normally found close to shore. I think it needs to be investigated as to WHY it was so close to shore, seeing as it's a pelagic species.

Beautiful blue shark, if he was reeled in thats not cool because it sparks people to hate them and they have as much rights to the ocean then we do. Kings of the sea! Let it be.

What people from the tourist board have been covering up is the 2 kids who had their legs bitten appart in Atlantic City last Week. Shark sightings? what about shark bittings thats what they poor towns cant afford to reach the mainstream media, God forbit you close down the beach for even a day in the woods or the crest or the A.C thats like an extra month of welfare for most buisness owners
