A Lufthansa cargo plane split split in two and caught fire while landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today, according to the AP. Videos posted to YouTube show the smoking plane at King Khalid International Airport.

Solar-Powered Plane Makes Nighttime Journey

An experimental solar-powered plane completed a 26-hour flight in Switzerland on Thursday, and operated in the dark. The plane, called Solar Impulse, reached an altitude of more than 28,000 feet, making it the highest- and longest-flying solar flight ever, according to this BBC report.

United Express Plane Skids Off Ottawa Runway

A United Express plane skidded off a runway Wednesday in wet weather in Ottawa, Canada. Flight 8050 was arriving fro Washington, D.C. with 33 passengers and 3 crew members on board. Canada's CTV reports the pilot suffered minor neck and back injuries and the co-pilot sustained a minor leg injury. One passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries.
