Thai Elephant Hospital Treats Landmine Victims

The AP reports an elephant hospital in Thailand is treating a new patient today: a 22-year old female elephant whose foot was severely injured when she stepped on a landmine. The hospital, called Friends of Asian Elephant, has reportedly treated at least 12 other elephants wounded by landmines buried along Thailand's northern frontier, where the Myanmar government is battling ethnic minority rebels. Some of FAE's patients can be seen in videos uploaded to YouTube.
